5 Tips for Starting your Day Off Right …

Ah that all too familiar sound of the alarm going off … whether you opt for one of Apples ‘peaceful’ tones or just go all out and embrace the horrendously loud sound of a classic alarm, it often triggers the dreaded thought of having to get out of bed. That soft, peaceful, calm haven … bed.

But there is no reason why it shouldn’t signal that a fresh new day has started – that you have over 12 beautiful hours to take on the world.

Below are my 5 top tips for starting your day off right …

Plan ahead;
I always make sure the house is tidy & kitchen is clean before bed so that when I wake up the next morning I don’t have an instant dread of needing to clean and already feeling behind.

Rather then going straight to the diary and having a mini freak-out about how much you’re supposed to do in a 24hour period.  Spend sometime thinking about 3 things you are grateful for – keep it simple to start with and you’ll find over time it becomes wonderfully natural.

Have rituals;
I LOVE rituals! They give me something to look forward to in a day – kind of like little treats popping up along the way.  Start the day with pilates. yoga or another form of movement to get that body & mind energized. Or read a book that help sets the tone for the day – even if it’s only for 10mins!

My morning ritual is an iced long black (prepared the night before), muesli and sitting on the couch in the morning sunshine reading books with my darling daughter.

Start hydrated;
Have a nice big glass of filtered water nearby when you rise and shine.  Water is so important for the body.  It flushes out toxins, increases energy, helps digestion and much more!

Have a bedtime;
It can be so easy to get hocked on a new TV show and all of a sudden the clock chimes midnight!  Or you just want to read one …. more … page.  Then there is that little voice that tells you to check social media once more for the day.  But sleep is so much more important! Your body & mind need it to replenish. Set a realistic bed time and that alarm clock in the morning will be a lot easier to deal with …. You might not even need it.

Let’s be excited that we have a whole new day.  Rather then your first thought being “nooo where is the snooze button?!”. Be joyful, remember you have purpose and the options for your new day are endless!
